Cozy Bedroom Makeover Ideas

We partnered with Lindsay, blogger of Whimsy Girl Design. See how she updated her daughter’s bedroom for less with cozy luxury bedding from Tuesday Morning.

Fluffy pillows, soft sheets, a warm blanket and a cozy comforter…nothing is better than settling into a comfy bed after a long day!

I recently did a little makeover in my daughter’s room with the help of Tuesday Morning’s great selection of name brand bedding at discounted prices! Since my daughter attends college out of state and was due for her first visit home since leaving, I decided to surprise her with a more sophisticated space upon her return! Let’s be honest…surprises are always fun!!

I have always been a huge fan of the bedding department at Tuesday Morning! They carry a wide variety of name brands and the prices cannot be beat! I knew it would be my one stop shop for this fun project…and I was right! Take a look at all my fun finds…

First up was luxury bedding. I knew I wanted to keep it simple but at the same time I wanted something to add interest to the room. I spotted this beautiful, ruffle comforter set by Lush Décor and knew it would be the perfect start to the makeover. At under $60 for a queen size comforter and two matching shams, the price was unbeatable! I love the subtle detailing of the ruffles and the quality is amazing!

Soft, luxurious sheets are a must for a perfect night’s sleep. If you have ever been in the Tuesday Morning sheet aisle then you have seen the wide variety of designer sheet sets they offer at unbelievable prices. I went for a simple, white sheet set to keep the room serene and calm.

With the major elements out of the way, it was time to have a little fun and add some personality to the space! I love mixing and matching a variety of accent pillows to achieve an eclectic look. The gray, faux fur pillows brought warmth into the space while the metallic silver one added a touch of sparkle and glam to the room. I love how it all came together…simple, interesting and pretty!

To finish off the bed, I used this beautiful, faux fur throw. For under $20, this addition makes the room feel cozy and welcoming! The great thing about throw blankets is that you can switch them up seasonally! While the faux fur is perfect for fall and winter, it could be swapped for a lightweight, cotton throw for the warmer months! Tuesday Morning always has a great selection of throw blankets at affordable prices!

While shopping for the bedding at my local Tuesday Morning store, I came across this fun, faux fur stool and knew it would be perfect for my daughter’s desk area. It adds in a whimsical touch and flows well with the room!

All that was left was the finishing touch…new curtains! Tuesday Morning had two aisles full of curtain panels in all styles and colors! I decided on these gorgeous white, gathered top curtain panels…the light and airy material gives the room a polished look without taking over the space.

Needless to say, I love the way the room turned out and so did my daughter. Tuesday Morning made it all possible with their name brand items at affordable prices! She loved coming home to a cozy, “new” room to relax and unwind in for her weekend visit! I cannot wait to have her home for Thanksgiving!

Could your bedroom use some designer touches on a small budget? Are you ready to tackle that guest room makeover you’ve had in the works? Are your kids outgrowing their bedroom decor and just need a few updates that can grow with them? Well then, I think it is time to head to Tuesday Morning for a shopping trip…

My favorite Tuesday Morning department: This is a trick question, right? I love them all! I usually head straight for the furniture, then home decor, stop by the housewares and then end up in the seasonal department. I literally go down every aisle, you never know what you might come across!

A little about me: I am a wife and mom of 2 girls living outside of Dallas, TX. I love bargain shopping, antiquing, eating Mexican food and decorating my home!

What I love to write about: I love sharing my love for design, decor, DIY projects and great deals with my blog audience! It’s a fun place to connect with others who share the same interests!

Hi Lindsey, I have been following you for a while now and I love your style, is very simple, clean and chic. I am an interior design student who has to work full time and my normal job but I’m trying to transition out. How were you able to partner with Tuesday Morning and all your other vendors you advertise for on your blogs? How does it work and what would you suggest on to venture out?

Loved what you did for your family, and I totally love Tuesday Morning! Which is really the MAIN reason I am writing. If you have any connection to headquartered offices of Tuesday Morning in Texas, correct? I cannot email them, only call, and I was hoping you could get this message to then,
PLEASE ask them to consider putting a store or two or FOUR on every island in HAWAII….the one state they seemed to have forgotten!!!!
WHY? You cannot believe how successful and popular and NEEDED Ross Dress for Less is here in Hawaii!!!! Everything is so horribly expensive that families flock to the stored (and Walmart and Target) because people desperately need to save on costs to make living more beautiful, aesthetic and enjoyable way out here in the Pacific, where only the very wealthy live in nice homes….Middle class in Hawaii live in “plantation” type homes in dire need of the products that are sold by Tuesday Morning. Ross is doing a bang up super job, but there is need for MORE.
PLEASE take the most heart felt request to Tuesday Morning executives…..we NEED Tuesday Morning on Oahu, the Big Island, Maui, Kauai at the very least,….and two stores on the Big Island because of distance between Kona and Hilo. It’s a huge investment, but the payoff in VOLUME sales will astound them! Just get in touch with Ross and find out what their returns are!!!!
Hopefully this won’t just die online…..Sincerelyk Gwen Anderson, (ready to move back to Utah to get back to great stores)……

Those “gorgeous white, gathered top curtain panels”…the gathered (“smocked”) top effect is called “SMOCKING”, which is a term that my generation probably will be the last to remember.

Pam…yes, thank you! As I was writing this article my mind went blank. When I think of smocked, I think of it being on clothing like those adorable dresses little girls wear but you are so right…that is exactly what it is! Thanks for the article, I cannot wait to learn about it!

just heard that you are closing the store in Farless Hills, PA. Very upset. It’s a great store and close to Yardley to visit often for special gifts and decorations that can’t be found at other places.

Closing a store is never an easy decision, Arlene. We take multiple factors into consideration, some of which are out of our control. We’re always searching for new locations, but in the meantime, you can locate another store near you here: http://www.tuesdaymorning.com/stores.

I love your design , great eye. I also want to start my own blog on home design. Any advice to get up and going for me because I have so many ideas running through my mind. We just moved into a new place so I’ve started taking photos of the before work. Now the after is what I want to showcase.

I love this room and the bedding is beautiful but the architectural piece above the bed is what caught my eye. I’m speaking of where the candles are. Could you please tell me where you got it?
I can’t tell if it is metal or painted wood to look like metal?

Also, you wouldn’t happen to know the paint color, would you? Good job!
