Home Decor Trends: Farmhouse Style

Farmhouse (noun): a dwelling on a farm

The term “farmhouse” has definitely taken on a new meaning since its charming look has become one of the most popular design trends of the year. Modern farmhouse style, industrial farmhouse style, rustic farmhouse style…there are so many different ways to mix and match the look to make it your own!

When we moved into our home two years ago, I had a vision of how I wanted to decorate it. I had no idea that what I had in mind would be such a popular trend. The great thing about the farmhouse style “trend” is that it has been around for decades and will stay around for the long haul! From chippy wood and galvanized metal to cozy textiles and unique accessories, the mixture of elements is what makes this look timeless!

Tuesday Morning is always up to date on the latest trends and their buyers are always bringing shoppers unique finds at great prices! Today, I want to share my favorite “farmhouse finds” from Tuesday Morning that have helped make my home feel like a modern farmhouse!

Grab a glass of sweet tea and come right in…

First up, my kitchen…the heart of the home! I have several Tuesday Morning goodies styled in this space. Our DIY, rustic wood shelves are filled with white plates, bowls and pitchers from Tuesday Morning. This collection adds a farmhouse feel and creates a great focal point in the space!

To keep things clean and tidy by the kitchen sink, I placed our soap on a small wood riser I picked up from Tuesday Morning. I am sure this cute little stand wasn’t made for this task, but it adds a nice touch to an area and keeps it organized.

Gray grain sack striped towels add a farmhouse feel to the area and are handy to have when needed! I love using functional pieces to decorate with!

By our stovetop, several charming pieces add a whimsical, farmhouse style touch. The ceramic “prep” canister holds vintage kitchen utensils…a great example of how I mix old items with the new. The “crush” bowl is a perfect touch to my antique kitchen scale! The small, gray edged bread board was the perfect addition to my collection and adds a modern touch to the space.

Over on our kitchen island, my wooden three tiered stand holds coffee mugs, bowls and some galvanized pieces to carry on with the farmhouse vibe. I purchased this stand several years ago but recently saw some similar at Tuesday Morning! The oversized mugs from Tuesday Morning look cute and are easily accessible in the mornings when you need a large cup of coffee to start the day! Cute and functional, my kind of décor!

Stepping into the living room, you will find textured pillows and a cozy, but lightweight, throw blanket awaiting a good snuggle! I am always impressed with the huge selection of pillows and throws available at Tuesday Morning! I love to switch up my pillows and throws seasonally for a fresh new look!! These are perfect for summer!

Subtle details, like the fringed edge of the throw and the crocheted detail of the pillows, add so much interest to the space! Look closely over in the reading nook and you will see some of my other favorite Tuesday Morning finds collected over the past few years…my mixed metal side table and jute foot stool! Pretty textiles, a simple linen couch, an industrial style coffee table, layered rugs and touches of greenery create a great backdrop for all the unique, flea market finds I have accessorized with! Reclaimed rustic crates, vintage bottles, salvaged architectural pieces and unique furnishings are what ties this space together for a collected look!

Another unique addition I recently purchased at Tuesday Morning is this framed butterfly print. The black, distressed wood frame adds a rustic touch to the vintage look of the print. I styled it over my vintage parts bin for an industrial farmhouse style look! I also love this unique greenery sprig I found at Tuesday Morning that finishes off this vignette!

Moving down the hall and into the laundry room, I have created a fun farmhouse style space… you have to do what you can to make doing laundry more fun! These cute botanical prints add some color and interest to the space! My vintage farmhouse inspired rolling cart is one of my favorite Tuesday Morning finds! Another piece that is functional but also looks great in the space!

Another space filled with farmhouse finds from Tuesday Morning is our guest bedroom. Salvaged wood shutters act as a headboard and cozy linen textiles create a warm and inviting feel. This cute striped throw adds the perfect finishing touch to the bed!

To add some personality to the space, I picked up this funky, whimsical shoe mold lamp from Tuesday Morning. The vintage style is perfect for this space and it is definitely a conversation piece.

On the opposite side, I kept the farmhouse theme going with the addition of this cute chicken wire candle holder I found at Tuesday Morning. Candles always equal an instant cozy feeling!

The farmhouse vibe doesn’t stop there… I accessorized the guest bathroom with striped towels, glass apothecary jars and a cute faux plant…all purchased at Tuesday Morning!

As you can see, Tuesday Morning has a fabulous selection of farmhouse finds! Here are just a few more items I spotted while shopping at my local store….

They have a great selection farmhouse inspired accessories…

Check out all these great farmhouse style furnishings…

And of course, a farmhouse look isn’t complete without textiles and linens…

Let me begin with the fact that I do enjoy shopping at Tuesday Morning, and many of the items shown here are lovely, but (there’s always a but) I wish the writer would lose the word “cute”. I generally avoid cute at all costs. I live in an honest to God farmhouse. It was begun in 1732, and added to many times over the 284 years it has stood. There is nothing “cute” about it.

Maryellen, Sorry you did not care for the term I used to describe all the great farmhouse style finds I scored at Tuesday Morning. The term “cute” was used describing the items and overall “farmhouse” style that is very in style at the moment! Your house sounds amazing and I bet it is full of character and charm!! Have a great day!

I LOVE looking at this blog…..and the Farmhouse finds are WONDERFUL!
I frequently shop Tuesday morning here and have NEVER seen anything like the things featured on this blog here
In our town. When I have traveled back and forth to Pheonix, AZ. I have purchased many things that are shown here and have to have them shipped back to Idaho.
I am always wondering, as many of my friends and I have discussed…..why Idaho doesn’t get the same merchandise that some other stores get? I know we are much smaller than say Phoenix but come on guys….ship some of that good stuff here!

I just love the choice of grays:

The simplicity of the light grays go a long way in style. I notice a pop of (young) green- showing a spring touch. This shows a beautiful release from the gray and white tones. this would work wonderfully moving into the summer with its brilliant golden yellows, array of rose reds, navy blue (for nautical). The fall would bring the autumn pumpkin, sage, brown nut colors. Winter silvers, a bit of bling to sparkle the tone of snow and ice. Black could be introduced with boldness of reds. I love changing up each season colors in my home but a base is needed to help ground my style on a budget.

    Lindsey you have amazing style.
I am wondering where you shop for mirrors for your bathrooms. I love the guest bath and would like to ask where you found the sconce mounted on wood?
I live in the Fairview -Allen area, where do you shop for antiques? Thanks for your time & suggestions! Holly

Will you please advise where I can get another. My pillow is 12″x18″, and cost $9.99. The tags read Vintage House, Liberty love 100% Natural Fill. Thank you in advance.
