Preparing Your Home For Holiday Guests

We partnered with Rebekah of A Blissful Nest. Read how she created a welcoming retreat for holiday visitors using her favorite guest bedroom ideas and bedding, towels, home decor accents and more from Tuesday Morning.

Fall has officially begun and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. If you are like me, you are in major prep mode for the holidays. I love this time of year with lots of things to celebrate and spending time with friends and family. This also includes getting ready for all the holiday guests that will be coming into town. My guest room certainly gets used a lot at this time and there are some key guest bedroom ideas I have on hand to ready for my visitors.

guest bedroom ideas

I like our guest room to feel like my guest’s home away from home. But that is not always easy because everyone has different needs. So first and foremost, I like to invest in really quality bedding. Trust me, people can feel the difference. I am currently crushing on the new Peacock Alley flannel sheet set. It is really soft and during the winter, perfect to keep your guests nice and warm at night.

Next, I always like to have a welcome basket. I tend to customize this to whoever I know is coming. Some of my favorite items to include are cozy slippers, magazines, bath essentials, something sweet to nibble on and cute hand towels. These are all items your guests can take with them when they go too.

Aren’t these hand towels so cute?!! They come in lots of sayings (these one say Dream/Believe) and icons like crowns and fleur de lis. I think these also make amazing gifts for the holidays.

I love to add lots of cozy pillows to our guest bed like this fur pillow. It really is so comfy to lay against in the cooler months. Tuesday Morning has them in a few colorways that are great additions to all the rooms in your home.

Provide your wifi information for your guests by displaying it in a picture frame on the side of the bed. It gives them easy access to the information for all their devices they bring with them.

Add some fresh flowers to a vase in the room. Not only do they look pretty but they smell so good waking up to in the morning!

Speaking of delicious smells, adding a candle to the room with some matches is a nice touch too. I pick scents that are light and airy and Tuesday Morning has so many to choose from!

Trust me, adding special thoughtful touches like these will not go unnoticed by your guests this holiday season! For more guest bedroom ideas to preparing your home for the holidays, pop over and check out Tuesday Morning’s Pinterest board “Guest Room Refresh.”

Blog: A Blissful Nest

My home Tuesday Morning location: Allen, Texas

My favorite Tuesday Morning department: The Pillows!

A little about me: I am a native Californian but moved to Dallas 3 years ago. I absolutely love living in the South but still miss seeing the beach every day. I love going junking on the weekends with friends and am constantly reinventing the rooms in my home. I love moving pieces around that I already own to create a new look! My days are full with my design clients, running A Blissful Nest and being a soccer mom on the weekends. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What I love to write about: I love writing about design tips and how to get a designer look with not a whole lot of effort. I love mixing unusual color combinations with unique pattern mixes. Everyone deserves a blissful home with their own personal signature touch!

Love Tuesday Morning!!! The New Castle,PA staff are always so helpful and polite. I love shopping there. Great inventory! But the best is how your treated when your there. Your employees go out of their way to help! Best staff in New Castle. Thank you to all that work there. Now that’s how a successful store should be ran. We tell out of town friends and family that they should visit your store. My cousin comes in from Ohio about 1 1/2 hrs away. I got her hooked! Love all the inventory for dogs too. Bought all our luggage there. It made it to Belize,Peru and costa Rico. Many of your friends luggage didn’t make it. Their going to your store to buy their luggage there. Thank you again for always welcoming your customers. We’re customers for as long as your open! We spend quite a bit there. Such good finds there. The employees deserve a good raise! Happy Holidays to you all! Sincerely Mikki B.

We do carry a variety of chairs, Donna. Because our selection and inventories vary by location, your best bet is to visit or call your local store. You can find your nearest location by entering your zip code here:

I love how the room is decorated and that’s a great suggestion the gift basket with item they can take with them. I like how that & will be taking it in consideration. I love the store, I can spend hours in the store but don’t bring your husband or anybody that don’t have the patience or time it’s not a run in & out store.
    Thanks Tuesday Morning

Our two stores, one is in Euless, Texas and the other in Bedford, Texas. Both have great helpful, but not too helpful staff, if you know what I mean. Warmly greeted, we were allowed to browse to our heart’s content. Other shoppers were considerate and enjoying the holiday displays too. They have popcorn in a tin, but very different from what you get at other stores: Candy Cane kettle corn, Gingerbread Spice popcorn, and Cinnamon & Brown Sugar popcorn. That was a lucky find.

My visit was to get a box for some earrings. I was not disappointed, but amazed.
There are a variety of reasonably priced, magnetic sealed boxes of graduating sizes. Pre-filled towers of boxes, or these boxes to fill with anything you want. If you need a gift, these two stores are great!
