Planning a spook-tacular shindig for your favorite characters this Halloween? Blogger Jessica Kirkland of Pen + Paper Flowers has shared some delicious Halloween desserts that they won’t be able to keep away from their fangs!
How about forgetting the tricks this Halloween season and instead treat some of your adult friends with a stylish and festive “Spiders and Spirits” themed dessert table. (and okay, maybe the spiders do count as tricks).
The theme is so simple and yet so clever your guests will scream! For the “spiders” portion of the dessert table you will, of course, need lots of creepy spider decor and spider webs. As for the “spirits” portion of this fun party theme we’re not talking ghosts or graveyards. You’ll need some wickedly delicious “spiked” desserts on the table for guests to nibble on.
These Pumpkin Bourbon Milkshakes are a bone-chilling way for friends, who are buried under layers of costume, to cool off and yet still keep their bellies bewitchingly warm.
Creepy-crawly plastic clip-on spiders add a terrifyingly terrific accent to the milkshake goblets and of course, the striped straws resemble stockings any wicked witch would wear. Use black clothespins to display your food labels and tack on a fake spider for an added evil Halloween twist.
A spooky wire tree with spider webs and spiders helps set the mood for any Halloween dessert table. The battery-operated LED lights I added are hauntingly easy to use and create an aura synonymous with the magic of the evening. They also provide some extra lighting if you decide to keep the lights down low.
Kahlua & Cream mini cupcakes are frightfully cute and are sure to fly off the table faster than a witch on her broom on Halloween night.
Candles and lanterns can cast an eerie ambiance especially when they are covered in spiders and webs.
Whiskey Caramel Glazed Pumpkin Bars served on a piece of black slate are a ghoulish-cious bite size treat for those guests looking for their pumpkin fix. Stacking round tins on top of one another give height to the dessert table while inserting a decrepit looking apothecary jar or two will add hair-raising details to your set up.
Add spiders to the wall behind your dessert table for a great visual and focal point. This beautiful pair of vintage, distressed wooden doors were the perfect backdrop for my set up and are really two painted, textured canvases in disguise. Isn’t it chilling how real they look? Even the hardware is startlingly authentic but are also canvas.
And of course, make sure you have plenty of napkins on hand for guests to quickly grab the spook-tacular treats you’ve made available as well as to be prepared for any ghastly spills.
I hope you’re inspired to recreate your own “Spiders and Spirits” themed dessert table this year! It’s frightfully delightful to put together and your ghosts, I mean guests, will be ‘witching’ Halloween was this good every year!!
