How to Host the Ultimate Game Day Party
Whether you are hosting a big watch party or simply gathering together with a few close friends for the big game, I have easy tips, appetizers, desserts and decorating ideas to help you host the ultimate game day party.
We are big football fans at our house, but even if you are just tuning in for the commercials, we have lots of fun party tips for watching the big game from the comfort of your own home. I love entertaining and when it comes to celebrating any occasion, I believe you should make it extraordinary! However, I’m also a firm believer that extraordinary doesn’t have to mean expensive or difficult. My motto is keep it simple, easy and extraordinary. With the help of great products and a huge variety of gourmet food options available at Tuesday Morning you too can easily create the ultimate football celebration, just in time for the big game!
I like to set-up and decorate one area with all of the food and party supplies. This helps set the stage for the celebration and makes it easier for you to decorate your home without breaking your budget. Football parties are all about the food and drinks so I set up a table in my dining room with my DIY football field table runner and a large chalkboard backdrop. I used a metal rectangular tin box and metal tray to display party supplies and food. And the best part is when the party is over I can use these items to decorate my home, now that’s what I call a touchdown!
During all the excitement of the big game the last thing you want to do is make your guest search for the snacks… they should be at arms length and plentiful. I stocked up on lots of easy to grab and munch snacks like the sweet and salty Kettle Popped Corn, Old School Movie Popcorn and Artisan Nuts.
In addition to having lots of munchies on hand, you’ll want to make sure you have some delicious appetizers guests can dig into. Some of my favorites include Tailgate Chopped Tater Tots and Hatch Chile Queso Dip. The last thing you want to do on the day of the big game is spend all day cooking in the kitchen. Tuesday Morning has lots of gourmet sauces and dips that are so good they taste homemade. I save myself tons of time on party day by using store bought meatballs and combining them with the sweet and spicy Peach Jalapeno BBQ sauce. I like to make this finger food extra easy for guests by placing mini forks and custom toothpicks in each one, that way guests can grab them and get back to the game so they don’t miss any game winning plays.
It’s no secret that I love entertaining, but I’m not a big fan of cleaning it all up when it’s over. This is why I love the party section at Tuesday Morning. They have a huge variety of paper napkins, plates and more for a pretty tablescape with easy clean up. I picked up a few packages of black and white polka dot baking cups to display field goal cupcakes and also put them out so guest could fill them with gourmet nuts. I love how they make an ordinary store bought cupcake look extraordinary, remember it’s all about the little details!
When you’re hosting a football party you will want to make sure you have plenty of drinks stocked. I like to set out a bar cart with the drink supplies and always include a fun signature drink that matches the party’s theme. For the big game I made Referee Coke Floats that all of our guests could make and enjoy, but this one is especially fun for the kiddos at your party.
