Bringing Spring Indoors

I think it’s safe to say that it is FINALLY spring! It’s been nice to see bright blue skies and to actually feel warm standing in the sunshine. I have been so ready for this season to arrive that it isn’t good enough for me to enjoy the signs of spring outside…I want my home to feel like it’s spring when I’m inside too!

I love adding spring touches to my home décor: freshening up my rooms, adding splashes of color, and bringing a little bit of nature inside wherever I can. Today, I’m sharing a few ideas to inspire you to do the same and welcome spring in your home!

Freshen Up with Paint

Nothing freshens up a room like a new coat of paint. We just moved into a new house a couple of months ago, and last weekend my husband and I finally got a chance to paint a couple of rooms. We chose a pale mineral green to brighten up a long hallway—it’s a color that’s popping up in the design world as one of this season’s hottest trends. What a difference that little bit of paint makes!

If you’re looking for some color inspiration, check out the Pantone Spring Color Report. According to Pantone’s panel of designers and influencers, these are the trendsetter colors for the season. (The paint we chose for our hallway is similar to “Hemlock,” by the way!)

Paint can also do wonders for furniture. If you’ve got a piece of furniture that is perfectly functional but a little too nondescript, transform it with paint! This is a great way to introduce the perfect dose of a bold accent color. Thanks to the DIY revolution, there are plenty of helpful furniture painting tutorials on the web and lots of before-and-after pictures to inspire you.

Color Me Spring

But if you’re not ready to commit to painting anything, it’s easy to add splashes of color with different accent pieces that are just as easy to change out from season to season.

I love these colorful Kantha storage boxes from Tuesday Morning. These aren’t your typical boring storage boxes! They’re covered with hand-embroidered silk from India. What a fun global/boho vibe they have!

Of course, accent pillows are a staple in seasonal decorating. Don’t be afraid to go for an unexpected color or pattern—even a dark sofa like this one feels brighter with the addition of those cheerful pink pillows.

Bloomin’ Marvelous

Of course, nothing says “spring” like a bouquet of flowers. I love seeing fresh-cut flowers around the house—they brighten every room.

You don’t have to have a large bouquet of flowers to make a statement. This little decorative birdcage filled with a few sprigs from a flowering tree is precious and unexpected.

I’m kind of terrified by flower arranging, so I usually stick with pre-made bouquets from the market—only to realize that even pre-made bouquets don’t necessarily look great just plunked in a vase! Fortunately, I found a great blog post on Henry Happened with some tips for styling a pre-made bouquet, just in time for all the new spring flowers making their way into stores.

If your allergies make fresh flowers impossible to have indoors, go faux! These cute green topiaries from Tuesday Morning cost about as little as a bouquet of fresh flowers, and the good news is that they won’t make you sneeze AND they last a lot longer!

I hope you’re inspired to bring a little spring inside your home! I’ve got so many more ideas—from decorating to crafts to painting tips to color inspiration—on the Tuesday Morning Bring Spring Indoors Pinterest board, so be sure to head over there now to check them out.

Happy decorating!

My favorite Tuesday Morning department: Do I have to choose just one? Craft section and seasonal accents.

A little about me: I’m the gal who always has a project (or two or three!) going on, whether it’s crafting for fun, DIY home decor or even a little remodeling. I do everything but cook! I’m obsessed with great design, old houses, fabulous wallpaper, sushi and hoarding craft supplies — not necessarily in that order.

What I love to write about: I love sharing my favorite craft and home décor ideas on the Tuesday Morning blog … it doesn’t matter what kind of project I’m working on, I know I can find the perfect thing for it at my home Tuesday Morning!
