8 Helpful Spring Cleaning Tips

Spruce up your home with these 8 helpful spring cleaning tips from Blogger Ginny of Organizing Homelife!

The beauty of spring has arrived. Blue skies, warm breezes, and vibrant flowers inspire us to enjoy the freshness of the season. Spring is a perfect time to act on that inspiration to clean and freshen your home.

Whether you enjoy cleaning or wish you had a maid, beginning with a plan will make the job a little easier.

1. Create a Plan

Start by choosing a method. Do you prefer to clean one room at a time? Or would you rather work in multiple rooms doing one task (i.e. washing all windows or cleaning all floors). Choose whichever method works for you and create your plan of attack.

2. Make a List

No matter your preference in method, making a list will help you achieve your goals. If you are visually oriented, you may enjoy checking tasks off as you work. Make a checklist or print an online version. Clip it to a clipboard so you can take it with you and check things off the list as you go.

3. Collect Your Supplies

Collect the supplies needed to clean the area where you’re starting. Don’t forget to bring a trashcan and a box or bag for collecting items that will be donated. It’s also a good idea to use a laundry basket to collect things that need to be put away.

4. Set a Time Limit

Many people have great plans to clean their whole house every spring, but then give up before they are finished. Breaking down cleaning into steps and setting a time limit for each task will help keep you focused and driven.

5. Declutter

Spring cleaning is a perfect time to declutter. When beginning a new room, work from the inside out. Once cabinets, drawers, shelves, and closets are cleaned and decluttered, it makes putting things away much easier.

When dusting shelves or wiping out cabinets or drawers, begin by removing all contents. Polish wood shelves or use an all-purpose cleaner on other shelves, drawers, and closet spaces. Once clean, only replace things you still use or enjoy. Place things no longer needed in a box or bag to donate.

6. Get the Kids Involved

Nothing says fun to kids like doing something out of the ordinary. Let them help with washing windows, wiping baseboards, cleaning fingerprints off of walls, vacuuming under furniture, and fluffing pillows.

7. Decorate

Once clean, adding touches of spring throughout your home will help you to appreciate all your hard work. Adding spring flowers to tables or shelves brightens any room.

8. Moving Out

When beautifying and cleaning your home inside, don’t forget to tidy up outside. Pull weeds, trim bushes, and plant flowers to make your home look as beautiful outside as it does inside.

Celebrate!

Now that your house is cleaned, you are ready for fun! Invite friends over or go out for ice cream. Enjoy spending time with your family and friends and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

you did have a store in Wallingford Connecticut. quite a few years ago at first I thought it was a breakfast restaurant.. one day for the hell of it I stop in for a coffee an it’s when I found out it was actually that sold essentially everything from Gourmet foods to babies clothes. bedding bath , furnishings an ect. being a first time grandfather I found the toy area and found many, many, unique toys prices very reasonable. too. I worked with children and I would buy those little cars toy trucks to greet these kids with on a daily basis. after about two years it was gone. why ? please bring it back. like I said at first it sounded like a breakfast shop (Tuesday Morning) an only looking for coffee is when I realized the great items and reasonably priced items……if you closed down because of lack of business. it’s perhaps what others thought too.. now what kind of toys do you still have and their prices ?

Closing a store is never an easy decision, Anthony. We take multiple factors into consideration, some of which are out of our control. We’re always searching for new locations, but in the meantime, you can locate your nearest Tuesday Morning store here: http://stores.tuesdaymorning.com.

Visited the new O’Fallon Mo store 4/17/2016, for the second time. Went to purchase a plant stand I had seen on my first visit. Noticed it was broken on one side and asked Joey if they had another. Joey said thay did not but he could give me “like 20% off, is that ok?”. Picked up an additional $25.00 worth of merchandise on the way to check out. When I got to checkout, and told them that Joey had said the plant stand was 20% off, he had told them 10%. I talked with Joey about it and he denied the quoted discount of 20% and said he had said 10% but would go 15%.
Moral of this story is I left without purchasing $40 dollars worth of merchandise because he wouldn’t honor what he had quoted and given the extra 10%…amounted to $2.00. I’ll not do business with a store that stumbles over dollars to pick up pennies. I’m a “principle of the thing ” kind of shopper. Thanks for listening!!
